So easy to prepare

This is how easy it is to bake pretzels according to the traditional recipe:

  1. Open the freshness seal and put the bag with the baking soda aside.
  2. Put the baking mix in a large bowl, add 215 ml of lukewarm water (see water line in the can) and knead the dough by hand, with a food processor or with the Thermomix for about 3 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest in the bowl at room temperature (approx. 24 °C) for approx. 30 - 45 minutes.
  4. In the meantime, put 2 liters of water and the bag of baking soda in a large pot and heat. The water should not boil.
  5. Preheat the oven (top and bottom heat 190 °C).
  6. Place the dough pieces into the water one at a time for about 30 seconds, turning them once. Pat the dough pieces dry with a kitchen roll, separate the egg and brush with egg white or water. Sprinkle as desired.
  7. Bake at 190 °C for about 25 minutes. Remove from the baking tray and allow to cool for 10 minutes.

  • Tips

    This is how the pretzels become particularly crispy: Place a small, ovenproof bowl with a little water in the oven or sprinkle the pretzels with a little water before baking.
